Job Description

Requirements for appointment

Be a citizen of Kenya;
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree from a university recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
Be a holder of a Master of Medicine Degree in Anesthesia from a university recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
Must have served as Medical Specialist II for a minimum period of three (3) years;
Registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;
Must have a valid practicing license from Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.

Duties and responsibilities

The Anaesthesiologist will be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following;

Providing anaesthesia with full range of anaesthetic agents, methods and techniques
Administering pain relief before, during and after medical procedures when necessary ;
Monitoring patients’ vital signs during procedures when need be;
Supervising Anesthesia Assistants and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists;
Approving general, sedative, regional or local anesthetics;
Reviewing medical files and laboratory results for patients;
Informing patients of risks associated with anesthesia;
Complying with medical and hospital policies and
Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.
