Job Description

Our Health team provides experts with decades of experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of health programmes and in the provision of analytical and advisory services that inform health policy and practice.

The Health practice has six areas of service expertise, namely:

  1. Research, monitoring and evaluation: We design and implement a variety of research projects, from national household surveys to discrete and focused programme reviews, or process evaluations using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
  2. Behavioural sciences: We study why people struggle with making healthy decisions and develop tools that are often cheaper to use, more effective in changing health behaviour and, ultimately, more effective at achieving better health outcomes.
  3. Health economics and costing: We focus on informing health-financing policies, conducting cost and efficiency analysis, strengthening public financial-management capacities and facilitating efficient implementation of health programmes leading to improved healthcare in the region.
  4. Sustainable health systems: Through user-centred design and collaborative approaches, our team works to build capacity and empower public-health managers to optimise programme performance.
  5. Digital Health: Using digital applications and services to improve the functioning of health systems, the collection and analysis of data, and improve access to and quality of health services
  6. Technical support services. We work with governments, UN agencies, civil society partners and development partners to support the provision of high-quality technical support across the East and Southern Africa region. We source the required expertise and deploy and manage consultants as required by our clients.EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL COMPETENCIES:

    ●        An advanced degree in public health, health management, health promotion, medicine or nursing, social sciences (with extensive work experience in health);

    ●        At least 10 years of working on HIV-AIDS projects/programmes – including having recent experience of so are reasonably up to date with what’s happening in the field;

    ●        Project/programme management experience and/or team leader experience;

    ●        Experience working across several countries in East and Southern Africa;

    ●        Experience in knowledge synthesis and capacity development;

    ●        Experience working with top level officials as well as having done work ‘on the ground’;

    ●        Experience of working on Global Fund related assignments (e.g. involved in developing funding requests, or having worked on Global Fund grants);

    ●        Experience of working with UN agencies would be highly desirable;

    ●        Ability to work effectively with a broad range of UNAIDS and Global Fund technical partners and have demonstrated skills in donors’ coordination and collaboration;

    ●        Excellent verbal communication skills, tact and diplomacy to establish and develop sustainable working relationships at the highest level of trust with all partners;

    ●        Facilitation and coordination skills;

    ●        Excellent writing and presentation skills in English. Other language skills would be desirable.
