The Section works on Policies, Legislation and Governance with specific mandate which include:
1. Develop norms, standards, tools, methodologies, regulatory frameworks, and code of practices at global, regional and national level.
2. Lead testing/piloting of tools and methodologies through pilot programmes and projects.
3. Disseminate norms, standards, tools, methodologies, regulatory frameworks, and code of practices, including knowledge products.
4. Provide technical, policy advice and services on norms, approaches and methodologies to internal and external partners including on implementation of operational programmes/projects. The Policy, Legislation and Governance Section plays a critical role in implementing the UN-Habitat Strategic Plan 2020-2025, the relevant Sustainable Development Goals (e.g. target 11a.1) and the New Urban Agenda. This assignment is designed to support the UN-Habitat, Policy, Legislation and Governance Section (PLGS) in the implementation and execution of its communication. The graphic designer will assist with different tasks including and not limited to the conception, design and packaging and promotion of PLGS products of its different thematic areas. Activities In the light of the context described and under, the overall supervision of the Chief of the Policy, Legislation and Governance Section and direct supervision of the Legal Specialist, Policy, Legislation and Governance Section the Consultant will have the following responsibilities: β€’ Produce clear, concise, and vivid materials that convey key messages to target audiences. This consists of layout of normative publications, internal and external newsletters, press releases, articles, mission fact sheets etc. β€’ Dissemination of the reports on social media and the Urban Policy Platform.

Qualifications/special skills
Academic Qualifications: A university degree (bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in graphic design, media, communications, or related disciplines is required. Minimum 3 years of experience in Graphic Design and related services is required. Computer Skills: Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite package (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Premiere pro) is required. Competence in web management, desktop publishing is highly preferred. Previous experience working with the United Nations will be an added advantage.
