The purpose of this position is to drive the sustainability vision for the Group. The position works in collaboration with the company’s internal groups and the Global Compact to improve group communications, with a particular focus on sustainability initiatives, EHS reporting and reporting on group companies’ sustainability efforts as well as build partnerships with external organizations.

KEY DUTIES:

Lead the effort to create a clearly articulated sustainability vision that is reflective of all the relevant stakeholders input and highlights how it will affect the businesses, people, profit and planet.
Develop and execute a comprehensive sustainability communications plan in collaboration with the company’s internal groups.
Secure and leverage senior level commitment and support for incorporating sustainable development (environmental, social, and economic prosperity) into the core processes every decision made throughout the Group.
Co-ordinate an internal Sustainability Steering Committee to drive and oversee the Sustainability strategy of the group.
Build effective partnerships with external organizations to support sustainability efforts.
Implement an effective organization structure, clear jobs and performance outcomes.
People

Coach and develop employees in the function. Monitor performance and give on-going feedback to maintain high performance.
Adhere to HR policies in the management of employees and maintain a conducive working environment.
Financial Management

Contribute to the development of the budget – revenue, opex and capex, for the function for review and approval.
Manage the functions’ activities within approved limits.
Continuously review the cost of IT and find ways to contain and manage costs without negatively affecting customer experience
Risk Mitigation, Compliance & Audit

Adhere and comply with the cGMP, policies, procedures and statutory guidelines.
Coordinate security and compliance across the technology space.
Facilitate statutory and internal audits.
Close gaps/lapses identified, and take corrective and preventative actions identified by audits, compliance reviews; investigations or any other assessment mechanisms within the agreed time lines.
Reporting

Prepare and submit EHS, CSR and Sustainability programs, Annual Group Sustainability reports that highlight the business impact to the relevant stakeholders within agreed format and timelines (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly).
Present reports that facilitate informed and sound decision-making. Trends, insights and concerns with recommendations clearly elaborated.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Must have a BSc in communications, journalism, liberal arts, or equivalent or in sustainability related studies
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in media relations, a digital newsroom, editorial production or journalism, preferably in a manufacturing or Agricultural Value Chain / engineering company
Specialist in communications, government relations, corporate responsibility, issues management, knowledge management, corporate brand management and marketing services.
Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and presentation skills
Good knowledge of web design and production of audio/video material
Good knowledge of computer applications for information collection, management and dissemination
Strong leadership, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization
Familiarity with global trends and issues in sustainability with a particular emphasis on agricultural supply chains.
