Job Purpose:

The Regional Relationship Manager โ€“ Credit is responsible for managing the various risks, key among them being credit risk, of the bank by evaluating the creditworthiness of borrowers, operationalize credit limits, and oversee performance of the loan portfolio. They are also responsible for implementing credit policies and procedures and contributing to the policy improvement processes.

Key Accountabilities

In charge of Credit underwriting process and Chair of the committee (R.C.C)
Evaluate the credit requests submitted by branches to the Regional Credit Committee
Approve and reject loans based on available data and within limits.
Review and recommend cases to higher Committees.
Monitor and oversee loan portfolio performance.
Recommend improvements to the companyโ€™s credit policies and procedures.
Support business growth by identifying and recommending risk mitigation strategies in the region.
Keep track on Portfolio Quality performance of branches within his/her region and take remedial actions where need be in consultation with the Regional GM and provide monthly oversight reports to Credit EXCO.
Monitor and assess active accounts to reduce or prevent bad debt losses.
Advise the Regional General manager on adherence levels to current policies and procedures, and champion sensitization.
Actively support efforts to identify credit risk related issues and coordinate issues resolution management.
Support the Regional GM with key management reports and respond to ad hoc requests.
Maintain and implement the Credit Risk Governance process.
Keep track of the service level agreements adherence on credit transactions within the branches under the region.
Follow-up and maintain tracking on open Audit and self-identified credit risk issues to ensure satisfactory closure.
Manage cross-market as well as central/local credit risk activities.
Perform any other reasonable and lawful duties assigned by management.

Qualifications and experience

Bachelorโ€™s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a related field
At least 7 + years working experience, with 5 of these being in a Credit risk underwriting role
Professional certifications
Understanding of loans and lending procedures

Working knowledge of consumer credit risk management and must possess sound market and industry knowledge of the Banking sector

Exceptional planning and organizational skills
Good knowledge of financial analysis and risk management
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
