Duties & Responsibilities:

Admission: As part of our general day to day tasks, a medical officer is the first point of contact with the patient, to clerk and ensure accurate and efficient diagnosis and management is started for the patient
Monitor and care for patients- Work hand in hand with other hospital staff to ensure daily review of patients, check up on progress and note/flag aspects of patient progress that need further evaluation in providing wholistic patient care
Assessing and planning treatment requirements: Daily review of patient medication and assessment of impact on patient based on clinical progress and laboratory indicators. This helps determine progress and hence continuation or need for change.
Perioperative Management: Ranging from preoperative analysis and review, obtaining consents. Bedside, minor surgical procedures that do not require theatre space. This saves up on time for patient to receive care and reduce exposure to sepsis/contaminants. Postoperative review and attendance
Literature Review: Practicing evidence-based medicine is the cornerstone of progress for the medical field. Together with our seniors, we research and review latest advancements in the world of medicine and how best to apply it to our daily practice and management for best results.
Execution: Following daily ward rounds by consultants, execute plans put in place, including running laboratory samples, organizing for imaging, analysing of results, appraising consultants in charge and executing additional plans of management.
Championing evidence-based practice, patient centred care, service excellence and continual improvement to provide premier patient-centred tertiary healthcare services
Key Performance Indicators

Level of patientsโ€™ complaints and resolution measures.
Turnaround time for patient care.
Resource utilization according to budget approvals

Qualifications, Regulatory & Legal Requirements

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from a recognized institution, a basic ICU course is an added advantage.
Must have valid membership and hold a valid practicing license from KMPDC.
Minimum 2 yearsโ€™ post-internship experience in the ICU/Critical care units.
Valid ACLS provider/instructor certification.
