Investment Officer – Africa DRE Debt Fund at Cygnum Capital

What You’ll Do

As an Investment Officer on this pioneering team, you will:

Source, structure, and execute private credit investments in the DRE sector across Sub-Saharan Africa
Focus on on-lending structures via commercial banks, MFIs, and other financial intermediaries
Lead transactions end-to-end—from origination and due diligence to execution and portfolio management
Support co-investments alongside development financiers and impact investors
Engage with local banks and DRE market stakeholders to unlock scalable financing solutions
Contribute to impact tracking, risk management, and fund reporting

Who We’re Looking For?

7+ years of relevant experience in private credit, blended finance, or DFI/impact investment—preferably with a focus on energy access, infrastructure, or financial inclusion
Proven experience investing in DRE across Africa, especially via on-lending models
Strong understanding of Africa’s commercial banking landscape, particularly in Eastern and Southern Africa
Active network in African financial institutions and/or DRE sectors
Fluent in English; additional African language or French is a plus
Based in or willing to relocate to Nairobi, Kenya
Self-starter with sound judgment, strong credit skills, and passion for market-based climate solutions
Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability with a high level of attention to numerical accuracy and detail;
Good team player but also able to work independently;
Self-motivated with ability to learn quickly and take the initiative to broaden own knowledge
University degree in a relevant field (e.g. Mathematics, Economics, Finance)
