Job Description
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Air Transport Officer (CATO), the incumbentโs main responsibility is to assist the CATO in improving the quality of service through effective monitoring and reporting, managing relationships with partners, and increasing operationโs visibility through strategic communication and high-level stewardship.
Carry out the collection, collation, analysis, and production of reports to effectively deliver UNHAS operational updates by coordinating with operation teams.
Measure and report on operational effectiveness by tracking passenger and cargo bookings, analyze non-served requests and delays, monitor flight cancellations, and identify trends in recovery and lead times for cargo requests.
Assess strategic effectiveness by mapping humanitarian organizationsโ presence, comparing UNHAS schedules with commercial, and other dedicated agency schedules, tracking destination closures and re-openings, analyzing service requests from non-registered organizations, and gathering feedback through surveys and interviews with user organizations.
Evaluate operational efficiency by measuring costs per destination, passenger, organization, and category, while reinforcing customer service by tracking communication lead times, coordinating with the Customer Service on strategy development, and proposing innovative ideas to enhance customer relationship management.
Ensure timely delivery of comprehensive operational updates, including Annual Review, Annual Country Report, Bi-weekly Report, and Country Brief, in close collaboration with the CO Reporting Team and HQ IM/ER Team.
Prepare factsheets and operation reports highlighting UNHAS activity every quarter for distribution to donors and provision of in-flight reading materials.
Contribute to maintaining and identifying the relationship with partners to effectively position WFP/UNHAS as a critical air transport service, securing financial support and advocacy.
Support the CATO in preparing presentations, talking points, and meeting minutes for regular Board of Directors meetings for both Kenya and Somalia.
Develop funding proposals and donor reports for institutional and government donors in close collaboration with CO Partnerships Team.
Assist in planning and preparing visits, meetings, and events by providing briefing materials, talking points, and other assets that support the positioning of UNHAS to key stakeholders and donors.
Support the CATO in advocacy and resource mobilization.
Lead the implementation of the UNHAS communications plan to drive high-quality visibility and positioning of UNHAS operations to create an enabling environment for fundraising and service provision.
Create and curate compelling digital content showcasing UNHAS operations in Kenya and Somalia that can be utilized across a range of platforms such as social media and website.
Design banners, brochures, and other communication materials to position in airports or support special events; Create these materials using technology, including computer software programs such as Adobeโs Creative Suites-Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premier Pro.
Ensure to regularly update UNHAS visibility through content gathering, including photography and videography.
Use fresh and attractive templates that are in line with latest trends and work closely with cross-functional team members to ensure all content reflect WFPโs visual standards.
Draft media briefs to support the CATOโs media engagement.
Perform any other related duties that may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: University degree in Aviation Management, International Relations, Statistics, Communication & Information Management, General Arts or equivalent.
Experience: A minimum of three yearsโ experience in the humanitarian sector. In lieu, at least one year of experience in Communications or Partnerships within WFP may be accepted.
Knowledge & Skills: Knowledge: Proficiency in using Microsoft Office programs and other related tools; Knowledge in partnerships for Not-for-Profit activities and/or UN field operations is desirable.
