The Opportunity:

DOT is seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to join our team as a Business Development Manager. This is a full time role, reporting to DOT’s Vice President, Marketing & Development. In a hands-on position, you will:
Contribute to the development of strategies and implement the strategies for fundraising and donor engagement to increase DOT’s funding base in Africa and for the global network;
Identify new opportunities for funding from governments, private sector, multilateral organizations, lateral organizations and others;
Develop and maintain relationships with current and potential donors to secure funding for ongoing and future programs;
Support the development of high quality presentations, proposals, concept notes, reports and other communication material required for fundraising in a timely manner;
Work closely with the program team to ensure that proposals and reports reflect DOT’s programmatic objectives and capacity;
Develop and maintain a database of potential prospects and current donors and funding opportunities for DOT Global and DOT Countries;
Research, monitor and identify trends and opportunities in various sectors and industries relevant to the prospecting efforts and targets;
Prepare material for Board of Director meetings;
Coordinate donor due diligence and partner contracts.

Qualifications:

A resident of Nairobi, Kenya, and able to legally work in Kenya;
Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in business development, fundraising, or resource mobilization for international development or non-profit organisations;
Proven track record in securing funding from institutional donors (e.g., bilateral and multilateral agencies, foundations, private sector partners, and philanthropic organizations);
Demonstrated success in cultivating and managing high-level donor relationships in Africa and globally;
Existing strong network of donors and funding partners relevant to development, economic empowerment, or related thematic areas;
Experience working in or with international NGOs, development agencies, or organizations operating in multiple countries is desirable;
Exceptional English language proficiency, both written and spoken; demonstrated ability to produce compelling, high-quality proposals, concept notes, donor reports, and presentations;
