Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

HIAS Kenya seeks to recruit a knowledgeable agricultural advisor to guide the HIAS Accommodation Centre on effective and sustainable smart farming.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide technical guidance and training on best practices and the use of new agricultural technologies including Urban farming technologies
Assessing soil and crops, and providing advice on the best farming practices
Advising HAC on crop selection based on soil, weather, and market conditions
Recommending suitable agricultural products like fertilizers and pest control measures
Advise on pest and disease control, post-harvest handling, and natural resource conservation
Preparing reports and keeping updated records.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

A Degree in agriculture or related course.
Extensive knowledge of agricultural science, including crop management, and a keen interest in research and development
Experience in smart farming
Knowledge of Accountability to Affected Populations.
Knowledge of PSEA.
