Responsibilities
Tasks to be performed under this contract
Under the overall supervision of the Deputy Regional Director for Operations and the direct supervision of the Regional Thematic Specialist Data & Research, the successful candidate(s) will be responsible for supporting the following areas of work:
Support in drafting thematic research, designing survey methodologies, and monitor field operations, of data collection efforts in close coordination with the RDH unit and mission colleagues, when relevant.
Contribute to the other preparatory phases of the studies as drafting data collection tools and training materials, when relevant.
Support with literature / desk review, and carry out extensive and in-depth data analysis of the datasets collected for the studies.
Consolidate and analyse secondary sources to identify key themes and patterns in a statistically robust and measurable manner.
Prepare draft(s) and final report or analytical product consolidating all analysis in narrative and graphic format with recommendations as relevant
Performance indicators for the evaluation of results
The performance indicators for evaluating the results of this consultancy will include:
Completion of Deliverables: All deliverables, including the draft and final reports, should be completed within the specified timeframe and meet the quality standards set by the Regional Data Hub for East, Horn and Southern Africa.
Quality Results: Consolidate and analyse quantitative and qualitative data as relevant from primary and secondary sources in relevant data analysis and visualization software to identify key themes and patterns in a statistically robust and measurable manner.
Timeliness: Adherence to the project timeline, with all tasks and deliverables completed within the 30-day period specified.
Qualifications
Education
Masterโs degree in Social and Political Sciences, Development Studies, Information Management, Migration Studies or a related field from an accredited academic institution
Experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience in migration, international development and research and analysis, with developing country experience highly desirable.
Experience in data collection, research, and report writing on migration and displacement.
Professional or academic experience in combining qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Experience working in the UN or other international development organizations is considered an asset.
