Job Description
An officer at this level shall:
Provide health education to clients regularly on identified health needs to help prevent diseases;
Measure and record patients’ vital information such as temperature, weight and blood pressure to help maintain good health;
Examine, diagnose and treat diseases and injuries to restore health to patients;
Complete health records of patients to capture health conditions and healthcare services offered to help in data collection; ~
Administer medication to patients and counsel them to help restore their health;
Maintain records of drugs used after working hours to avoid wastage and stock-out;
Evaluate patients’ health outcomes by scheduling them for review visits when necessary to help restore their health;
Conduct minor surgical procedures such incision and drainage of abscesses to help restore health;
Decontaminate, clean, dry and sterilize used medical instruments and equipment to prevent spread of diseases;
Order and interpret medical tests as need arises so as to ascertain/confirm diagnosis before treatment;
Refer routine and emergency patients for investigation or specialist attention to avoid complications; and
Perform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.
Job Specification for Appointment
For appointment to this grade candidates must have:-
Successfully completed three (3) year pre-service training in a recognized institution.
Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery.
Be registered with Clinical Officers Council (COC) of Kenya.
With a valid practicing license.
At least three (3) years post qualification working experience.
