Job Description

You will report to the CFO.
NOTE: While you will be Kenya or South Africa-based, it is expected that you will be to travel up to 6 times per year to the other operating countries to visit the markets.

Roles and Responsibilities

    • You will support senior management in translating financial information into commercial strategy.
    • You will prepare and update the Group’s long-term financial and strategic planning model.
    • You will provide insights to senior management around financial modeling, forecasts, and profitability.
    • You will lead annual group budget cycle, including setting a timetable, agreeing on deliverables, and monitoring the provision of budget information from departments.
    • You will review budget submissions and consolidated P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow schedules, providing challenges to ensure budgets are submitted to the Board for approval.
    • You will analyse financial and operational results to redirect company strategy. This includes identifying and recommending new revenue, productivity, or cost savings projects. Or holding the budget accountable for budget control.
    • You will manage the Pricing team balancing competitive pricing which delivers desired margins and improved loss rates
    • You will prepare business cases to support new investment, strategic, and other our decisions.
    • Line management responsibilities for assigned staff e.g. finance analysts and pricing team

Skills Required

    • Experience with M-KOPA’s social mission and improving the lives of our customers.
    • Qualified accountant
    • >7 years of relevant work experience
    • Good commercial awareness
    • Interpret raw data and translate it into concise information
    • Explain complex financial data to non-finance individuals
    • Confidence to justify and implement change
    • Team leadership

Experience Required

    • Experience living and working in Africa
    • Experience with digital financial services and/or alternative lending
